I enrolled in Editing, Layout, and Design to increase my knowledge of design. As a logophile, I knew that every word I see was written by someone, but I hadn't thought much about the fact that almost everything else I see was designed by someone.
This class showed me that design affects us all, from what button we know to press on a new phone to the font and color of our email signatures. I learned that design is a series of planned decisions. Even when there are happy accidents, the designer chooses to leave them there or not.
When you study how much work, effort and technical know-how goes into design, building, clothes, websites, and more start to become more than just products. You realize just how important art is to our souls and our societies. I hope this site reflects that idea.
